Invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast.

چکیده
The classical pattern of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) has become well established since the tumour was first designated in the 1940's. It is a distinct histological type of breast cancer, yet the incidence rates accumulated from the literature are widely divergent and vary from 0.7-20 per cent,' suggesting the criteria for diagnosis are not well defined. Martinez and Azzopardil in the only series reported from the United Kingdom studied in detail the histological criteria for diagnosis and discussed and illustrated the recently described rarer variants. This study, and the problems of management posed by lobular carcinoma, encouraged us to review a censecutive series of invasive breast carcinomas from our records presenting during 1979. The incidence of ILC, with and without the in situ lesion, was assessed, the rarer variants of the tumour were sought and some of the problems presented by this diagnosis considered.

Comparison of Estrogen Receptor and Progesterone Receptor in Ductal Carcinoma and Lobular Carcinoma With Regard to Age Prevalence
Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common women’s cancers, and the number of cases is increasing worldwide. Objective: The current study compared invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) and invasive ductal carcinoma with regard to the prevalence of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and age prevalence. Methods: T...
متن کاملبررسی فراوانی بروز مارکرهای E-Cadherin , Dysadherinدر کارسینوم های پستان
Background and purpose: Breast carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor and the leading cause of death due to cancer among women. Previous studies have shown that increased expression of dysadherin promotes cancer metastasis and reduced expression of E-cadherin was also associated with progression of epithelial tumors. The aim of this study was concurrent assessment of E- cadherin and dysad...
متن کاملExpression of Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase Protein in Human Breast Cancer
Background & Objectives: Anaplastic lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in the genesis of several human cancers. ALK was initially identified because of its involvement in anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). ALK is believed to foster tumorigenesis following activation by autocrine and/or paracrine growth loops. Studies reveal that the presence of anti-ALK antibodies ...
متن کاملUnusual Metastatic Patterns of Invasive Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast
Invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast has similar patterns of metastatic disease when compared to invasive ductal carcinoma; however, lobular carcinoma metastasizes to unusual sites more frequently. We present a 65-year-old female with a history of invasive lobular breast carcinoma (T3N3M0) treated with modified radical mastectomy and aromatase-inhibitor therapy who underwent a surveillance ...
متن کاملBilateral male breast cancer: a case presenting with synchronous invasive lobular carcinoma and invasive ductal carcinoma
Synchronous bilateral male breast cancer is a very rare entity and invasive lobular carcinoma is less common in male breast cancer (MBC) than in female breast cancer (FBC). A 51-year-old man presented with a palpable mass in the left breast was finally diagnosed synchronous bilateral MBC, one an invasive lobular carcinoma and the other an invasive ductal carcinoma. It remains a matter of debate...
متن کاملHypermethylation of E-Cadherin and Estro-gen Receptor- Gene Promoter and Its Association with Clinicopathological Features of Breast Cancer in Iranian Patients
Background: Aberrant methylation of cytosine-guanine dinucleotide islands leads to inactivation of tumor suppressor genes in breast cancer. Tumor suppressor genes are unmethylated in normal tissue and often become hypermethylated during tumor formation, leading to gene silencing. We investigated the association between E-cadherin (CDH1) and estrogen receptor-α (ESRα) gene promoter methylation a...
